Regular Church Services
Morning Prayer is held on the 2nd Sunday, with Holy Communion on the fourth Sunday of each month at 9.30am. Patronal Service is scheduled for the 23rd of July 2025 For the full list of services please look in the Article section.
Celtic Prayer Service
Monthly, on the Forth Wednesday of the Month at 7pm. This evening prayer service is written in the style and spiritual purview of the Celtic tradition. A tradition steeped in imagination, symbolism and of God's glory in all of creation.
Plough Service 21st of January at 3pm (Followed by tea and cakes!)
Dating back to the Middle Ages, Plough Sunday services are held all over the country and in former times, marked the beginning of the farming year. The blessing of the plough was thought to bring good luck, healthy livestock and good crop yields for local farmers during the year.
The Patronal Service
The Patronal Festival of St James will be held on Wednesday the 23rd of July 2025. This is the annual celebration dedicated to St James, the Patron Saint of this Church. It is usually followed by Pimms & Pudding in the churchyard.
Devon Historic Churches Trust Cream Tea Event
Once a year St James Church, supported by members of the Jacobstowe Community group, organise a cream tea event in the Church supporting Devon Historic Churches Trust. It is held on Devon Historic Church Day on the second Saturday in September each year. For 2024 it will be the 14th September starting 2pm.
Harvest Thanksgiving Service
Harvest Service Celebrating Harvest and the Season of Creation. This service planned to be held on Thursday the 3rd of October 2024 starting at 7.00pm. The service will be followed by a bring & share supper. There will also be a collection of non-perishable food for the local food bank. Poster available in the Gallery for your own use!
Christmas Carol Service
Join us for our traditional 9 Lessons & Carols, currently planned for the Wednesday 11th December 2024 starting at 7pm. Followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
Christmas Eve Cribb Service
Our Cribb Service for 2024 is at Exbourne Church starting at 4pm Christmas Eve. All are most welcome.
Raising Funds For our chosen charity & The ChurchChristmas Mini Craft Fayre
St James Church Jacobstowe Christmas Mini Craft Fayre. In December 2023 we raised £1400. Early planning is underway for 2024.
