Regular Church Services
Morning Prayer is held on the second Sunday, with Holy Communion on the fourth Sunday of each month at 9.30am. Celtic services are held on the forth Wednesday of each month, with the exception of December. Patronal Service will be held on Wednesday July 22nd at 7pm For the full list of services please look in the Article section.
Celtic Prayer Service
24th of June, 22nd of July, 26th of August, 23rd of September, 28th of October*, 25th of November, 28th of January. This evening prayer service is written in the style and spiritual purview of the Celtic tradition. A tradition steeped in imagination, symbolism and of God's glory in all of creation. The service on the 28th of October includes an All Souls service.
The Patronal Service
The Patronal Festival of St James will be held on Wednesday the 22nd of July at 7pm. This is the annual celebration dedicated to St James, the Patron Saint of this Church. It is usually followed by Pimms & Pudding in the churchyard.
Devon Historic Churches Trust Cream Tea Event
Once a year St James Church, supported by members of the Jacobstowe Community group, organise a cream tea event in the Church supporting Devon Historic Churches Trust. It is held on Devon Historic Church Day on the second Saturday in September each year. For 2026 it will be the 12th September starting 2pm.
Harvest Thanksgiving Service
Harvest Service Celebrating Harvest and the Season of Creation. This service planned to be held on Thursday the 1st of October 2026 starting at 7.00pm. The service will be followed by a bring & share supper. There will also be a collection of non-perishable food for the local food bank.
Christmas Carol Service
Join us for our traditional 9 Lessons & Carols, currently planned for the Thursday 17th December 2026 starting at 7pm. Followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
